Although it is controversial, but most of the clinicians now agree it can be a powerful, effective therapeutic technique for a wide range of conditions, including pain, anxiety and mood disorders. Hypnosis can also help people change their habits, such as quitting smoking. Hypnosis is usually done with the help of a therapist using verbal repetition and mental images.

Developmental Psychopathology is an approach or field of study designed to better understand the complexities of human development. Psychopathology of Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia nervosa is a potentially life-threatening eating disorder characterized by the inability to maintain a minimally normal weight, a devastating fear of weight gain, relentless dietary habits that prevent weight gain, and a disturbance in the way in which body weight and shape are perceived.
Anorexia nervosa may be divided into 2 subtypes:
-Restricting, in which severe limitation of food intake is the primary means to weight loss.
-Binge-eating/purging type, in which there are periods of food intake that are compensated by self-induced vomiting, laxative or diuretic abuse, and/or excessive exercise.
Patients with anorexia nervosa often display such traits as a desire for perfection and academic success, a lack of age-appropriate sexual activity, and a denial of hunger in the face of starvation. Psychiatric characteristics include excessive dependency, developmental immaturity, social isolation, obsessive-compulsive behavior, and constriction of affect.

Pyromania
Pyromania is indicated by fascination, curiosity, or attraction to purposely setting things on fire. It can occur due to delusional thinking, impaired judgement due to other mental disorders, or simply as aggressive behavior to express anger.
Symptoms may include:
Being very tense or very excited before setting the fire.
Being attracted by fire and objects, people, or situations related to fire.
Not caring about the loss of property, the injuries, or even the deaths that result from fires.

Psychogenic Tremor
Psychogenic Tremor, also called hysterical tremor can occur at rest or during postural or kinetic movement.
The characteristics of this kind of tremor may vary but generally include sudden onset and remission, increased incidence with stress, change in tremor direction and/or body part affected, and greatly decreased or disappearing tremor activity when the patient is distracted. Many patients with psychogenic tremor have a conversion disorder.

Intellectual Disability (ID), also called intellectual development disorder (IDD) or general learning disability and formerly known as mental retardation (MR) is a generalized neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by significantly impaired intellectual and adaptive functioning.

Intellectual functioning- Also known as IQ, this refers to a person’s ability to learn, reason, make decisions, and solve problems.

Schizophrenia is characterized by altered perception of reality, including delusional thoughts, hallucinations, and disorganized speech and behaviour.
Schizophrenia is a serious disorder which affects how a person thinks, feels and acts. Someone with schizophrenia may have difficulty distinguishing between what is real and what is imaginary; may be unresponsive or withdrawn; and may have difficulty expressing normal emotions in social situations.

Symptoms Includes:

Difficulty in becoming motivated to get out of bed in the morning, take a shower.
Physically motor impairment such as suddenly finding it difficult to live light weight objects, walk up a hill challenging.

Paranoid Personality Disorder (PPD) is a mental disorder characterized by paranoia and a pervasive, long-standing suspiciousness and generalized mistrust of others. A person with paranoid personality disorder will nearly always believe that other people’s motives are suspect or even malevolent.

Antipsychotics particularly the first generation antipsychotics, may cause akathisia.
A movement disorder characterized by a feeling of inner restlessness and a compelling need to be in constant motion, as well as by actions such as rocking while standing or sitting, lifting the feet as if marching on the spot, and crossing and uncrossing the legs while sitting.

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), also known as Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD), is a mental disorder on the dissociative spectrum characterized by at least two distinct and relatively enduring identities or dissociated personality states that alternately control a person behavior, and is accompanied by memory impairment for important information not explained by ordinary forgetfulness.
